Hi, I’m Farid, also known as Faroud.
Born in Belgium, but adopted by Belgian foster parents, I grew up in a world where I often felt like I didn't truly belong anywhere.
My roots lie in Morocco, but I barely felt them.
At the same time, I never quite felt Belgian either.
The relationship with my foster parents was not easy, and from the age of 15 I was left on my own.
Living alone at such a young age amplified my sense of loneliness.
Feeling like you don't really belong anywhere and lacking a sense of home shaped me, but it was also hard.
Yet, in this loneliness, I found something powerful: the space to discover my own identity.
Making music is one of the ways I shape this search and tell my story.
Recently, I wrote a song that for me reflects what loneliness means.
The song is dark and intense, but it also contains light, a spark of hope that in the end of the tunnel there is always something beautiful.
This is my gift to the world and to all who have ever faced loneliness, you can download it for free at www.faroud.be
My journey has not been easy, but it has made me who I am today.
And that is something I embrace with pride and want to share with you.
Happy Holidays!
Greetings, Faroud
After seeing Remco Evenepoel shine in an incredible way this year, especially during the Tour de France and the Olympic Games, I felt so inspired as a fan that I had to make a song about it.
His achievements deeply touched me, and this is my way to share that feeling.
During one of my musical adventures, I found myself working with someone who was busy filming Bad Friends at the time.
He asked me if I would like to join in and scare Thomas Smith properly on Groenplaats.
Mission accomplished, I would say! 😉
In 2006, I participated in the Cassius Workshop, a remix contest organized by the legendary French band Cassius via MySpace.
Well, it wasn't really a contest per se, Cassius shared their acapellas and everyone could create their own version.
With about 500 submissions, it was a massive project.
I was lucky enough to be briefly featured in the music magazine Tsugi for it.
